Natural wedding and wild flowers at the Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken
The setting for this wedding is striking by its contrasting decor. It is not everyday we are commissioned to design a natural wedding and wild flowers at the fabulous Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken. We are welcomed in style at the 5-star palace, in a sumptuous atmosphere and we get straight to work to recreate a garden of wild flowers worthy of a Swiss Alps wonderland.
Nami, our bride, has chosen the Salon rouge for her wedding, a small intimate affair with a big vision. Nami’s been dreaming of a very natural wedding, with small delicate wild flowers. Our interpretation of the bride’s vision can be summarized as charming nature and wild flowers take over a romantic classic salon… Nami originally from Japan lives in London, after several years spent in New York. So many cultures, traditions, life experiences; yet only one mantra prevails with well established guidelines: beauty, perfection and precision. The bride shows us some very inspiring images of japanese floral design creations. The flowers we’ll use are delicate, natural, refined. Let’s not forget an important detail: The bride’s favourite flower is the lily of the valley… quite a challenge in July!
You guessed it by now: we proudly solved the mystery of sourcing lily of the valley in summer, to the joy of our bride. Her bouquet was so fragrant, it was simply divine… strong and pure yet subtle and so delicate… To dress up the fireplace mantelpiece, we both fell in love with a wild and natural arrangement, inspired by the master of natural floral design Christian Tortu.
And it’s a very old lady who gives the tempo: As soon as we start decorating the back of the hotel’s famous Rolls-Royce with a gorgeous yet charming wreath, the tone is given, we’re going for old times charming flowers. Thsi arrangement is a delight for the senses, the contrast between the shining black hood and chromes with the simplicity and softness of our wild flowers is just perfect. So it is on board this diginfied old lady that the couple make their way to Interlaken Schloss, the Castle where they exchange their vows before their family.
For the cocktail, the happiest of all colours, yellow, shines over this natural wedding and wild flowers at the Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken
It was a very daring but happy choice. Nami is particularly fond of mimosa… A bit too late in the season for us florists but it still gave us some ides to brighten up the cloister with some fresh and sunny blooms. Phase 2 of the wedding had just started for us with some good luck flowers we used in various arrangements: a luxurious garland for the bar table, some adorable little vases for the cocktail tables and a very lush bouquet with Van Gogh sunflowers and sliced lemons making an unusual appearance through our tall clear vase. At the entrance of the cloister, one couldn’t help but notice the marvellous yellow broom bush greeting the guests for this sunny wedding.
The masterpiece for this day remains the reception dinner when the theme for this natural wedding and wild flowers at the Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken took center stage.
We prepared everything on site, with precision and passion. The couple first selected the trees that would ornate the Salon rouge one by one, choosing the varietal and shape… What a marvelous sight it was to discover plump love apples hanging from an adorable apple tree in such an elegant and quite formal setting! Once we put the finishing touches to our table centerpieces, we knew our mission was accomplished: Nature has truly come in and taken over this wedding venue!
Our table flower arrangements were true miniature gardens: natural moss, ox-eye daisies, campanules and other damascus nigellas started delivering their beautiful and vibrant scents for the pleasure of the guests. Truth be told, I don’t think we ever received more admirative and complimentary comments as we did that day, as we were busying ourselves with reproducing a miniature natural wonderland. Let’s not spoil it for you, we’ll let you admire this feast for the eyes for a wedding unlike any other!
